Walk for Life Cancer Fundraiser in Addison May 19
Addison-The 18th annual Walk for Life, a major fundraiser for the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center, is ready to take off from the Addison town hall Saturday, May 19. As in years past, the event will offer walkers or runners a 1-, 2- or 5-mile route from the center of Addison Village to Route 1 and back to the starting point.
For the first time this year there will be a Satellite Walk for those who wish to participate in the fundraiser but who can’t be present on May 19. Between May 1 and May 18, using electronic devices or simply counting steps, Satellite Walkers will track their miles, keep a log, and collect pledges per mile or a flat sum from their donors. Total steps and donations are later turned in to the Center, where individual and team prizes will be awarded.
In addition to the Walk on May 19, at the Addison town hall and the Masonic Hall across the road there will be a barbeque lunch, face painting, wellness booths, a lobster raffle, pie sale and silent auction.
Check-in on May 19 begins at 8 a.m. and the Walk takes off at 10 a.m. Participants can register online at www.bethwrightwalkforlife.kintera.org or in person at the time of the Walk. Everyone who raises $25 or more will receive a Walk for Life t-shirt. For more information, visit the website or call 664-0339.
