Teen Leadership Program Receives $4,500 from Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Employees
Ellsworth – On February 6, 2019, employees of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust presented a $4,500 check to Healthy Acadia’s Downeast Teen Leadership Camp program. The monies were raised through donations from the Bank’s employee-driven charitable giving program, Casual for a Cause, which focuses on giving back to community programs focused on education and workforce development.
“Our employees in Maine selected Healthy Acadia for support based upon the passion and dedication your organization has for leading the Downeast Teen Leadership Camp which benefits dozens of children in grades 7 – 9,” said Jack Frost, Director of Community Giving for Bar Harbor Bank and Trust. “We recognize that programs such as the Teen Leadership Camp make a tremendous difference to help strengthen the life of a teen at home, in school, and in the community.”
Three local students who attended Downeast Teen Leadership Camp as campers and plan to apply to serve as counselors this year were present to accept the donation, along with Camp nurse Lori Martin and Healthy Acadia staff members, including Terri Woodruff, who directs the DETLC program. “We are absolutely thrilled to receive such a generous donation and show of support from Bar Harbor Bank employees,” said Woodruff. “Their gift will provide scholarships for campers that otherwise may not be able to cover the full cost of the Camp tuition. Thank you so much!”
