Surry Arts at The Barn Features Classical, Show Tunes, Blues and More
Surry – Surry Arts at the Barn (SATB) will showcase both classical music and Broadway tunes at4 p.m. Sunday, July 23. Featured artists are Sheldon Bisberg, tenor; John Cunningham, baritone; Steve Bryant, bass baritone; Grace Neal, soprano; Alan Wittenberg, flautist; Debbie Riley, pianist; and Sarah Fraley, pianist.
Brooksville-based guitarist and songwriter Derrick Semler and Friends will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26. Semler began his career on the West Coast in the 1970s playing American blues in bars and dance halls with the group Soulbenders.
Jazz group Fuchsia will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 28. Performing will be Joseph Boulet, on drums; Oliver Scot on piano/keys; and Matt Stephens, on bass. Featured performer will be Jenna Pavis, on alto and soprano saxophone.
Concert pianist Miki Sawada takes the stage at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 30. Born and raised in Japan, Sawadastudied music at Yale University and won the Yale chamber music competition. She has performed internationally. She will soon embark on her Gather Hear Alaska tour where she will drive with a piano in a truck to give concerts in small towns in Alaska. She will be accompanied by a documentary filmmaker.
