Operations Manager

NextStep Domestic Violence Project seeks an Operations Manager who has a deep commitment to social justice and who shares our belief that everyone has a right to live in safety, without fear of abuse.

The Operations Manager works closely with the Finance Manager and Executive Director to support the operation of NextStep. This position has primary responsibility for Human Resources management, including overseeing all administrative functions of recruitment, benefits, background checks, onboarding/offboarding, related insurance, and record keeping. The Operations Manager also supervises staff as assigned, serves as liaison to vendors and paid partners, and provides advocacy services to survivors.

This is a full-time, salaried position based in Ellsworth, Maine, with some in-state travel required. Our primary operating hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some night and weekend work required. Salary range is $45,000-$52,000, depending on experience, with excellent benefits.

College degree and at least two years’ experience in business, administration, human resources, or a related field, or a demonstrated, comparable combination of experience and education; at least two years’ experience in supervision of staff, preferably in a nonprofit setting; comfort with and ability to assist with financial management; emotional maturity and stability; excellent oral and written communication skills; stellar organizational and time management skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; high ethical standards; willingness to learn and grow.

Other requirements include a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance; a landline or cellphone with reliable service; and satisfactory response from government agencies to required background checks.
