JOB SUMMARY:

WABI TV5, the most watched station in eastern and central Maine, has a rare opening for an evening news anchor. This position requires dayside reporting then anchoring our 5pm & 530pm newscasts. The ideal candidate must possess strong presentation skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for local news. Our anchors are team leaders who take part in the planning of our shows and produce content regularly. Anchoring experience is preferred, but maybe you’re an MMJ looking to take that next step with a veteran news team.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Use bullet points & Listed duties):

  • Energetic personality who can connect on TV, online, and in the community
  • Must be proficient in the use of social media
  • Proficient in ENPS or another newsroom system
  • Anchor live television broadcasts from 5-6pm Monday through Friday and fill-in on other shows as needed
  • General field reporting during the weekdays
  • Engage in community related activities and event on the stations behalf to promote station’s relationships within the community
  • Reads/copy edits news scripts before each show

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

-College degree preferably in journalism/electronic mass media

-Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
