Nature Photography 101 with Gerry Monteux at Woodlawn
Gerry Monteux, a Nikon professional nature photographer, will offer a Nature Photography 101 workshop at Woodlawn on Saturday, July 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The group size is limited to 8 participants to allow for safe distancing practices.
The class includes a 30 minute classroom-like discussion on camera settings and the exposure triangle technique, which will help students quickly become better outdoor shooters. Participants will then put their learning to practical experience on the grounds of Woodlawn. While students may not get to see any wild animals, Gerry will guide them to understand more about the dynamics of their camera so they can capture nature the way they wish to remember it. This is a beginner’s course for DSLRs or SLRs cameras only. Please no cell phone cameras.
Gerry’s work can be seen at his gallery in Hancock and several other galleries here in Maine. He specializes in photographing Maine’s iconic landscapes, seascapes, night skies, and wild animals.
Students should come with masks (Woodlawn will provide one if needed), comfortable walking shoes, appropriate dress for the weather of the day and a camera. The classroom session will be held outside weather permitting, or in the Woodlawn conference room with safe distancing and air ventilation practices in place. The workshop includes a tour ticket for a future visit to the Black House museum as it is closed this season.
The cost is $42 for Woodlawn members and $45 for the general public. As space is limited, pre-registration is required through the calendar at woodlawnmuseum.org.
