Woodlawn has long been known as one of the premier museums in the Northeast. With its phenomenal collection of original furnishings it is gem.
The dedication of Executive Director, Josh Torrance and his board, the Hancock County Trustees of Public Reservations has bolstered the community’s interest and involvement with the museum and its beautiful grounds in recent years. The grounds now sport a tournament sized croquet court with national champion level players and a community garden space that is filled each summer with Master Gardeners providing support and training.
The Ellsworth Antique Show at Woodlawn is hosted on the museum grounds and brings hundreds to the community each August. This show is the longest running summer antiques show in America.
A robust workshop and lecture program keeps the small staff bustling year round. Woodlawn hosts Field Day programs for 5th and 6th grade students in the Fall and 7th & 8th grade students in the Spring. Seasonal events bring the laughter of children during Ellsworth’s Winter Carnival and the awe of visitors for the mansion’s magnificent Christmas displays.
