Bar Harbor has found a new dentist and Dr. David Wicks has found a new place to call home. When much loved local dentist Dr. Stephen Moon passed away in January it was a shock to everyone. The personal and medical loss for the community was huge. Dr. Moon was a sole practitioner and there is no practice without a dentist. Dr. Moon’s estate reached out to Dr. Wicks to see if he would help out by filling in. Dr. Wicks, who has spent 36 years practicing
dentistry all over Maine, quickly learned that he had found his niche. According to Dr. Wicks, the key to modern dentistry is prevention. “My philosophy is don’t wait for the squeaky wheel. Most treatment can be done pain free if caught early enough,” he said.
And to help him with this mission, Dr. Wicks has maintained most of the staff members who worked with Dr. Moon.
His goal is to develop patients for life. “We pride ourselves on taking time with patients,” he said.
