A message from Executive Director, Mark Green
In 2017, two local non-profits dedicated to serving the residents of Washington and Hancock counties made the decision to come together into one new organization. Child and Family Opportunities, INC (CFO), formed in 1970, and the Washington Hancock Community Agency (WHCA), formed in 1966, have each served the Down East region of Maine, focusing on helping low-income and at-risk residents thrive. The new organization, named “Downeast Community Partners,” will continue this work.
Combined, the two organizations will form one stronger entity through the consolidation of administrative services. Offering “life-span opportunities in Washington and Hancock counties” that incorporate all existing programs from each entity and the potential for many new programs, this new organization with history and deep roots in the region will continue to serve local communities well into the future.
The name change is effective on October 1, 2017. For the time being, all of the telephone numbers and email addresses will remain the same. A new website is being developed, however, until it goes live, the websites CFO and WHCA will remain vibrant and up to date.
