MaineCF’s Hancock County Committee Awards $164,000 in Grants
PORTLAND – The Hancock County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded $164,133 in grants to 28 nonprofits.
Grant recipients include:
- Deer Isle-Stonington Community School District #13, to develop opportunities for career exploration, skill-building, internships, apprenticeships, and job placements for local high school seniors entering the workforce after graduation
- Island Connections, to expand transportation services for neighbors to medical appointments and social outings utilizing a multi-person van donated in 2018
- Reversing Falls Sanctuary, to convene a conference which will bring together different sectors of the community to address climate change.
The Hancock County Fund is a permanent endowment that supports projects and nonprofits that strengthen communities in the county. Applications go through the foundation’s Community Building Grant Program and are reviewed by a committee of local leaders. The next proposal deadline is February 15, 2020.
