Join the Maine Office of Tourism and DownEast Acadia Regional Tourism for a critical discussion and survey of the regional tourism industry in DownEast Acadia.
We need your input to help us improve the region as a tourism destination and work more collaboratively with the diverse businesses, individuals, and organizations supporting the tourism industry.
Date: TUESDAY OCTOBER 17TH Two Locations:
MACHIAS – Sunrise County Economic Council, 7 Ames Way 9AM-12PM
ELLSWORTH – Public Library, 20 State Street, 2PM-5PM
Please bring your own laptop or tablet – we will be working online together.
Regional Tourism Assessments – The Maine Office of Tourism (MOT) is working with the international organization Destinations International to help DownEast Acadia tourism industry members explore our internal strengths and weaknesses through a formal survey and assessment.
The surveys are based upon variables representing destination strengths and weaknesses, and community support and engagement. Once completed, we will receive a report highlighting the region’s strong points and areas where improvements can be focused.
The 3-hour workshop is a public forum for tourism industry, community and market leaders to 1) gain an understanding of the process, 2) complete the survey and 3) discuss key factors that could help the region be a stronger destination.
Please help us invite tourism-related businesses, individuals, municipal and community leaders, politicians, economic and community development organizations, parks and recreation managers, local producers, artists and craftspeople, tour guides, seafood retailers, events coordinators and museum/historical society directors – we want to hear from anyone who contributes to our diverse tourism industry!
