“Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember,” said artist Barbara Shelley.
After graduating from art school at the University of Michigan, Barbara began working as a commercial artist in New York City as a packaging designer for Clairol and later an Art Director for Isotoner gloves. She continued to paint and draw, and for about ten years she made and taught pottery. In 2011, she began to paint in oils, with a brief period studying botanical illustration at the New York Botanical Garden. She continues learning at the Art Student’s League in NYC, where she paints from live models. Her paintings are primarily of Maine and the beautiful Acadia/Downeast area.
