Linda Packard to Teach a Two-Day Painting Class at Woodlawn
Linda Packard will teach a two-day painting class titled “Building the Abstracted Landscape” on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 from 10:00am – 4:00pm at Woodlawn in Ellsworth. Ellsworth – Building the Abstracted Landscape: a two-day painting class with Linda Packard will be offered on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 from 10:00am – 4:00pm in the Sleigh Barn at Woodlawn.This workshop is for painters with some experience and with interest in loosening up and moving away from recording detail. Through demonstration and individual guidance, emphasis will be on simplifying the landscape to its essence, dancing on the edge of abstraction. Students will learn how to utilize plein air sketches and reference photos in the abstraction process and any painting medium is welcome. Students will work from sketches made en plein air or made from photos.
The cost is $200 for Woodlawn members and $220 for non-members. A list of supplies to bring is available online. As space is limited, pre-registration is required through the calendar at woodlawnmuseum.org.
Woodlawn is an educational, cultural, and recreational treasure for the people of Downeast Maine. The main house is open for tours May 1 – October 31 and December 1-23.
