Letter From the Director June 2018
Hello from High Street!
Wow! If you did not attend the Chamber’s Annual Award and Event night, you missed a great evening. From the fabulous food by Flexit, Pugnuts, Patticakes and Momo’s, to the special Top-Drawer Award cocktail, by the Bar Harbor Catering company, we were all treated! Barbara’s flowers from the Bud Connection, a beautiful handcrafted Top-Drawer Chest provided by EL Shea, and the many sponsors who helped bring it all to life, gave us an evening to remember. I would be remiss if I did not mention our spectacular location/event space. Without a doubt, Brian Spencer, Jake Taylor and the Wallace Event crew helped create one of the highlights of the evening in our wonderful clear structure!
Congratulations to all our award winners and nominees, our gracious Citizen of the Year Natalie Knox, and the wonderful team from the Top-Drawer YMCA.
This time of year, is also our fiscal year end, and a new board year. We said goodbye to long time board member Sheryl Edgecomb from Bangor Savings Bank and welcomed Meghan Moshier from Schoodic Institute and Patrick McGuire from Brown, Milliken, Holmes Agency.
We also have a new slate of officers including Board Chair Fred Ehrlenbach, Vice Chair Becky Sargent, Treasurer Tom Wheeler and Secretary Nancy Mayo. Kelly Cochrane will continue in the Past Presidents seat. All of our board are accessible and easily contacted. To feel free to let them know your needs or ideas.
As we head into summer and everyone gets busy with their businesses, we want you to enjoy one more event with the Chamber. Our Annual Breakfast will be on Wednesday June 6th with Tim Sample, Maine Comedian as our guest. Join us for a great morning of fun, learn about the specials we have for June Membership Month, and connect with your fellow members before summer hits hard.
The Chamber will go to Saturday hours in late June and will have Sunday hours in July and August. Stop in and pick up what you need for your business or drop off your information, so we can send visitors your way! Don’t forget we are selling Acadia National Park 7-day passes as well this year. Easier for your guests, clients, locals and day trippers, than heading to the Park Headquarters building. Spread the word.
My hope for you all is that you have a wonderful summer season, but don’t forget to get out and enjoy the area. We can only talk about what we know. Visit a place you haven’t been, hike a new trail, take in a new area or shop and dine someplace new. Don’t forget to let the owner know you own a business as well! You will have a lot to talk about, and perhaps share with each other. See you out and about! Stop by and see us! Happy Summer.
