Letter From the Director, from May 2017

Hello from High Street,

It’s Celebration Season! May always brings special events for many businesses and schools as they wrap up the year, before the summer begins.  The Chamber is no exception.  Our calendar is full of  ‘yearend’ events, and graduations and we invite you to join us in the celebrations.

Leadership Hancock County, the chamber’s educational leadership development program will be graduating its seventh class on the evening of May 9th with a ceremony and celebration at Flexit Café.  Reservations and tickets for the event will be available thru the chamber office. This successful chamber program has over 100 alumni in leadership positions all over Hancock county.  Close to 50 businesses have sent employees to LHC and more than 30 locations around Hancock County have hosted the program over the past seven years.

Membership Month in June will be kicked off with our Annual Membership Breakfast. Hosted for us by Rudman Winchell at Big Cats Catering in Trenton.  We plan to kick of Membership Month and the summer season in style. Come hear local celeb Dennis Damon regale you with stories and enjoy breakfast with the chamber on June 6th.

But if you can only attend one event….and you really like a party, this year’s Annual Meeting is the one for you! May 18th, the new Acadia Event Center in Trenton will be transformed into an elegant showcase of what some of our membership can do.  From the space, to the décor to the flowers and food, you will be treated to something quite special. Speaking of special, our two top awards for the evening, Wallace Events for Top Drawer, and Citizen of the Year Donald Clark make me realize what a truly wonderful community we live and work in.

On a final note, our Annual Meeting signals a change in our Board of Directors year.  Only one director will be stepping down from our board this year.  Matt Boles has served on the Chamber Board of directors since 2010.  Matt has been a wonderful voice for young managers and leaders in the Ellsworth area.  He was an integral part in getting Union Square, the chambers Young Professional group up and running.  Matt and his family have always supported our Autumn Gold Car show going above and beyond.  Although I will miss his presence at monthly meetings I look forward to working with him on the car show and keeping young professionals engaged in our community. Thank you, Matt, for your service, time and talent.

So, in the words of our Top Drawer winner “Let’s Get this Party Started”
