Judith Hotchkiss to teach Traditional Rug Hooking for Beginners at Woodlawn
Ellsworth – Woodlawn is pleased to offer Traditional Rug Hooking for Beginners on Friday, July 27 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
In this one-day introduction to traditional rug hooking, students will hook a 9-inch trivet with a coastal motif. Veteran instructor, Judith Hotchkiss will cover all the basics of materials and tools and a little bit of history besides. The goal is to provide an introduction to traditional rug hooking with wool strips, which can be compared to painting with wool. A kit is provided with all materials needed to complete the project. Frames and hooks are available for loan during the class and to purchase after, if desired.
The cost is $125 for Woodlawn members and $135 for non-members and includes a pattern on linen and sufficient wool strips. As space is limited, pre-registration is required through the calendar at woodlawnmuseum.org.
