Judith Hotchkiss to teach Punch Rug Hooking for Beginners at Woodlawn
Ellsworth – Woodlawn is pleased to offer Punch Rug Hooking for Beginners with Judith Hotchkiss on Friday, August 3 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
In this one-day introductory workshop, students will make a 9” hooked piece with a coastal design that can be used as a trivet, wall hanging or pillow. A kit is provided that includes pattern on monks cloth and sufficient yarn to complete the pattern. Students will choose from a selection of hand-dyed colors to personalize their project. This form of rug making is so fast and easy it is often described as “instant gratification with wool”. All finishing stages will be taught before the end of class and veteran instructor, Judith Hotchkiss, will cover everything necessary to confidently complete the project at home. Frame and #9 Oxford punches are available for loan during class and purchase afterwards if desired.
The cost is $125 for Woodlawn members and $135 for non-members and includes a pattern on linen and sufficient wool strips. As space is limited, pre-registration is required through the calendar at woodlawnmuseum.org.
