Hospice Volunteer Trainings
Ellsworth – Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County is offering two volunteer training series beginning mid-October with once-weekly meetings for eight weeks. Hospice Patient Care Volunteer training sessions will be held from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m. Thursdays from October 19 through December 14. Bereavement Support Volunteer training will be held Wednesdays from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. from October 25 through December 20. Both trainings will not meet the week of Thanksgiving and will be held at the Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County office in Ellsworth. Cost for both series is $75, which includes extensive training resources, background checks, refreshments and graduation materials.
Both of these trainings are comprehensive, providing education, skills-enhancement and personal and professional development. Each session focuses on a topic related to hospice and/or grief, including life-limiting illness, communication skills, family dynamics under stress, spirituality in end-of-life, supporting caregivers and/or support group facilitation, plus many others.
Participants in previous trainings provide enthusiastic feedback on these offerings, finding it meaningful and something they would recommend to others. From a recent trainee: “Many Thanks for this spring’s Hospice training program. I found each meeting to be informative, well-planned and worthwhile. I look forward to using my learning and hope I will be a successful Hospice volunteer!”
Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County volunteers are well-supported in their roles by a large network of colleagues.
The training programs require an application and pre-training interview, so the deadline for applying is October 13. Please call 667-2531 or visit the HVHC website for more information: www.hospiceofhancock.org.
