Heart of Ellsworth to offer Community Conversation in Partnership with City of Ellsworth

Heart of Ellsworth (H of E) and the City of Ellsworth are pleased to announce a partnership in hosting an upcoming Community Conversation on Downtown Living, Wednesday, April 30, 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. at the former JB Atlantic Building, 142 Main Street in Ellsworth.  The conversation is open to the public, free of charge.

The conversation will highlight how downtown living fits into the City’s economic development strategy. Guest presenters include Chris Closs and Sarah Hansen of Maine Preservation, who will address opportunities for state and federal historic preservation tax credits as a resource in renovating second story living space. Local developers Abe and Heather Furth will share a case study of their experience renovating historic downtown buildings in the greater Bangor metro area. The talk will be of interest to downtown building and business owners, as well as community members.  According to the City’s economic development director, Janna Richards, “People moving into your city center is affirmation of a healthy and vibrant downtown. The City is happy to work with the Heart of Ellsworth to help increase and promote urban living options in our downtown.”

Community Conversations is a popular public forum series that Heart of Ellsworth established in 2017.  According to executive director, Cara Romano, “Community Conversations over the years have been very well received.  The evening talks are both informative and interactive. The chosen topics for the series hit a variety of topics and age groups. While each conversation has guest presenters, time is included for audience questions and input. We love all the great ideas and suggestions we have received from engaged participants. ”

Downtown Living is the first of a number of upcoming conversations being planned. Details on the series will be made available as plans are finalized in coming months at and the H of E Facebook page for up-to-date information on programs and activities.

Heart of Ellsworth is a private 501(c)3 that promotes artistic, cultural, economic, educational, environmental and historic activities in the “Downtown” area to promote a vibrant community for all.
