Heart of Ellsworth to host Community Conversation Ellsworth’s Amazing Waterfront
ELLSWORTH – Heart of Ellsworth is pleased to announce the next offering in its 2018 Community Conversations series. Ellsworth’s Amazing Waterfront will be held Wednesday, May 23, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Flexit Cafe & Bakery, 192 Main Street in Ellsworth. The program is open to the public, free of charge. Donations accepted and appreciated.
The Ellsworth waterfront has a remarkable lumbering and shipping history. Today it bustles with activity. Heart of Ellsworth has invited two presenters for this May conversation. College of the Atlantic history professor, and longtime Ellsworth resident Todd Little-Siebold will speak on the waterfront history and Ellsworth Harbormaster, Adam Wilson, will speak on current activities and future plans for Waterfront Park. According to Heart of Ellsworth executive director, Cara Romano, “Our Community Conversation series welcomes audience participation, so bring along your thoughts and questions and a friend for a lively dialogue.”
Little-Siebold has restored a historic house in Ellsworth and has worked on a wide range of historical topics in local history from the local varieties of heirloom apples to African Americans in the community. His interest in the Union River stems from his historical research as well as his passion for fishing. His students have worked on the history of fish such as Alewives and Salmon in the river.
Adam Wilson was born and raised in Ellsworth. He has worked for the City of Ellsworth for 18 years and has served as Harbormaster for 5 years.
The Community Conversation series breaks for July and August and returns in September with Utilizing Downtown Ellsworth’s Second Story, date to be announced. The series concludes in October with a facilitated, Meet the Candidates Night.
Complete details on the series will be made available as plans are finalized in coming months. Visit and Like the Heart of Ellsworth Facebook page for up-to-date information on programs and activities.
