Heart of Ellsworth to offer Community Conversations in 2018
Ellsworth – Heart of Ellsworth is pleased to announce the offering of seven Community Conversations in 2018. The series launch, What’s Happening in Your Downtown? will be held Wednesday, January 24, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flexit Cafe & Bakery, 192 Main Street in Ellsworth. The series is open to the public, free of charge.
Community Conversations is a refocus of the public forum series that Heart of Ellsworth held in 2017. According to executive director, Cara Romano, “Our board wanted to host a series that was both informative and interactive. Great ideas can come from engaged participants. The chosen topics for the series hit a variety of topics and age groups. Each conversation will have a presenter and include time for audience questions and input.”
The January conversation, What’s Happening in Your Downtown? will include a brief overview of projects that are in the works and idea sharing time with participants. Romano said, “ We really want to know what is on the minds of community members, what is it that they are excited about and would like to see happening in our community.”
The series continues on February, 21 with “Ellsworth in Winter – Cabin Fever Relievers”. On March, 21, “Ellsworth, Aging in Place” is planned. As spring arrives, on April, 18, the topic will be, “Beat the Bugs – Understanding Ticks”. On May, 23, it will be a lively presentation on“ Ellsworth’s Amazing Waterfront – Then and Now”. Then, on Saturday, June 30th, you will want to save the date for the return of, “Taste of Ellsworth”, the wonderful outside, community dining experience that was a sell-out in 2017. The series breaks for July and August and returns on September, 19 with a topic to be announced and will conclude with a facilitated, Meet the Candidates Night on October, 17.
Complete details on the series will be made available as plans are finalized in coming months. Visit the Heart of Ellsworth Facebook page for up-to-date information on programs and activities.
