Heart of Ellsworth to host Taste of Ellsworth

Heart of Ellsworth is pleased to announce its first Taste of Ellsworth, on June 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will be held on Franklin Street, between Elizabeth’s and the former J.& B. Atlantic building. Camden National Bank and Wallace Events are the event presenting sponsors.

The community is invited to celebrate our downtown by eating with a view of City Hall picnic style. Wallace Events and community volunteers will transform Franklin Street extension into an open air dining experience. “The challenge was creating an intimate environment in the heart of downtown with elements of a traditional Maine summertime picnic” says volunteer Peter Lione, creative director for the Taste of Ellsworth. Two live acts will be performing on stage giving the event a fun summertime feel – Ellsworth City Band and Sugarbush, an all woman Americana folk band. The game area will have something for all ages including a giant Jenga Game and other surprises.

The festival will feature eight local eateries serving up signature dishes. Staff from each restaurant will be on site ready to talk with guests. The culinary line-up this year includes Morton’s Moo, Finn’s Irish Pub, Flexit Café and Bakery, 86 This!, Downeast Cheese Cakes, Finelli New York Pizzeria and Union River Lobster Pot.  Airline Brewing Company will be pouring beer at a cash bar.

City Council member Dawn Ihle Hudson recently shared, “I’m most excited about the Taste of Ellsworth event because it provides an opportunity for the people of Ellsworth to gather in the heart of the city. Additionally it creates a venue for local eateries and merchants to connect with one another.”. Tickets are for sale at participating eateries or by contacting Heart of Ellsworth. Adult tickets $35, children $15, and $40 at the door.

“The mission of Heart of Ellsworth it to promote economic, artistic, cultural, educational, historical and environmental activities in the “Downtown” area to provide a vibrant community for all residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations and local government.”
