Healthy Acadia Offers Tips for Eating Better on a Budget
Healthy Acadia’s Nutrition Education Coordinators in Hancock and Washington Counties, are excited to offer, “10 Tips – Eating Better on a Budget” nutrition classes for adults. This class is designed to empower adults who are experiencing a limited budget with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make healthy and affordable choices. Participants will learn how to select nutritious and low-cost ingredients and prepare them in ways that taste great and provide the best nourishment possible for their families.
Classes meet for an hour each week for four weeks. Each session will feature a food demonstration with opportunities for hands-on cooking, as well as recipes for participants to take home. Healthy Acadia Nutrition Education Initiative classes are made possible through Maine SNAP-Ed. Maine SNAP-Ed is funded by the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, which is administered by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and implemented statewide by the University of New England (UNE) through contracts with local community coalitions. Maine SNAP-Ed educates low-income families on low cost, healthy eating and active lifestyles.
