Ellsworth – Courthouse Gallery Fine Art will host a talk about The Maine Sculpture Trail on Friday, October 13 at 6pm. Jesse Salisbury will present a talk and slideshow on Creating the Maine Sculpture Trail, a newly released book that tells the story of the participating local communities and international sculptors, and their efforts to create large-scale stone sculptures during five public symposia held in eastern Maine. The Gallery Talk is free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale and signing at Courthouse Gallery.
Sculptures by Lise Becu and Jesse Salisbury, two of the symposia’s participating artists, will be on view at the Gallery. The Maine Sculpture Trail offers a trail of thirty-four sculptures scattered throughout a 270-mile region in eastern Maine, including Blue Hill, Surry, Castine and Deer Isle. The Maine trail joins the New Brunswick Sculpture Trail, adding twenty-two more sculptures and creates the International Sculpture Trail.
The event will be held in conjunction with “Art of Ellsworth: Maine Craft Weekend,” a citywide event celebrating Ellsworth’s creative community.
Courthouse Gallery is located at 6 Court Street in Ellsworth. Off-Season Hours: Tuesday–Saturday 10am–5pm. For more information on upcoming shows call 207-667-6611, or visit www.courthousegallery.com
