Free Tobacco Cessation Classes Begin February 15 at Northeast Harbor Library

Northeast Harbor-  Healthy Acadia will offer a free, Freshstart tobacco cessation class beginning Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Northeast Harbor Library. Sessions will meet on Fridays from 2:30-3:30 pm for four weeks. Freshstart, developed by the American Cancer Society, is designed to help smokers plan a successful quit attempt by providing essential information, skills for coping with cravings, and group support. Whether you use cigarettes, vape products, smokeless tobacco, or are tobacco-free and want to support a friend or loved one as they quit their habit, you are welcome to participate in this free program.

Freshstart combines the most up-to-date methods for tobacco cessation support into face-to-face group support sessions. Program participants choose a combination of techniques and cessation treatments they will use in their quit attempt.

The Freshstart evidence-based Freshstart approach will help you increase your motivation to quit, learn effective approaches for quitting, and guide you in making a successful quit attempt through information, activities, group support, and discussion.

All Freshstart participants will receive a participant guide at their first session to use throughout the program and for personal review outside of class. Freshstart participants can expect group support from other program participants, the opportunity to learn from past quit attempts, and gain new techniques to incorporate into your future quit attempt.
