Fiber artist Melissa Mattes to teach a felting workshop at Woodlawn
Ellsworth – Woodlawn Museum is proud to welcome Maine fiber artist Melissa Mattes to teach a felting workshop on Saturday, June 30th, from 10am to 3pm.
Students will explore the art of wet felting and pre-felting wool paintings with Melissa Mattes. In addition to learning the technique of wet felting, students will learn how to pre-felt the wool (layering wool and felting solid colors) to cut and use to construct colorful wool felt paintings. Felting will be done using very hot water. Geared for age 15 and up, the wet felting process requires standing for a large portion of the class, using both hands/arms to roll the felted piece. The cost is $75 for Woodlawn members/$85 for non-members and includes all materials. Please bring 3 or 4 large old towels. As space is limited, pre-registration is required through the calendar at woodlawnmuseum.org
