The Castine Historical Society will host a special Jewelry Valuation Day on Thursday, June 30 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. followed by talk on 20th century jewelry design in the evening at 7:00 p.m. The event is part of a series of educational programs that accompany the Historical Society’s 2022 seasonal exhibit, Clark Fitz-Gerald: Castine’s Celebrated Sculptor-in-Residence.
Sacha Grippando of Bellwether Advisory & Appraisals will be on hand to give a preliminary evaluation of your antique, vintage, or contemporary jewelry. To book your 10-minute appointment, call the Historical Society at 207-326-4118. One piece of jewelry is allowed per appointment slot. However, you may book back-to-back appointments for multiple pieces of jewelry. The cost for the evaluation is $15 per appointment. That evening at 7:00 p.m. Ms. Grippando will give an illustrated talk on mid-20th- century jewelry design. She will also discuss the jewelry designed by Castine artist, Clark Fitz-Gerald. Anyone who has Fitz-Gerald jewelry is encouraged to bring their pieces so others can see original jewelry by the artist. The free lecture will be held in the Mitchell Room of the Abbott School exhibit gallery, 17 School Street, Castine. Reservations for the lecture are not required. Face coverings are strongly encouraged and will be available for anyone who doesn’t have one.
