EMHS to Become Northern Light Health
Bangor – I am pleased to share that in October of this year EMHS will become Northern Light Health.
Our new name signals two things: First, it celebrates the remarkable work done within EMHS, particularly over the last five years, to build a system of care and services dedicated to optimizing the collective resources of our member organizations. Second, the brand behind the name establishes aspirational goals to guide us on our continued journey to making healthcare work for every Mainer. Being highly visible and understood throughout Maine and beyond requires strong brand recognition, and while EMHS as a system name brought us to where we are today, we’ve known for a long time that the name lacks the uniqueness and clarity of who we are.
Northern Light Health will take us into the future, illuminating the system’s evolution from individual locations with a regional focus to an integrated health delivery organization that is both patient and community-focused, and reflects our strengths as an organization, the needs of the people we serve, and all of you, who all do so much to deliver excellent care.
Reinventing a brand to this magnitude is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we deliberately took our time, thoughtfully considered the changing healthcare environment, the uniqueness of the state of Maine, and involved expertise from throughout the system.
This branding work has been managed by a system-wide multidisciplinary team with careful consideration for Maine and Maine people, the constantly evolving healthcare environment, and the system’s opportunity to be more clearly recognized for who we are and what we do.
Full implementation of the new brand will begin in the fall and roll out for several months. These are exciting times. I thank you for your patience while we have been on this journey and look forward to sharing more of the details of our transformation in the weeks and months ahead.
