EMDC Seeks Laid off Individuals for On-the-Job Training

Bangor – Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC) has funding available for On-the-Job Training (OJT) for individuals who were laid off from their jobs in Penobscot, Piscataquis, or Hancock County and are interested in working in one of the following 5 sectors: Information Technology, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Construction/Boat Building.
Once accepted for the OJT program and matched with a participating business, a trainee will earn a paycheck while he or she learns new skills.
EMDC is also seeking employers in these 5 sectors who are looking for the right new employee(s) to train. The OJT program will help defray the cost of initial training for the new employees. “We can offer up to five months of partial wage support to train new employees enrolled in the OJT program”, said EMDC’s Director of Business and Workforce Services, Hook Wheeler.
To learn more about the OJT program, please contact EMDC’s Adult Program Manager, Susan Cerini, by phone at (207) 974-3229 or by email at [email protected]
