Downeast Walk to Stop Diabetes
October 20, at 10:00, will be the start of the 4th Downeast Walk to Stop Diabetes beginning at the Ellsworth Elementary Middle School and continuing along the Shore Road. The Walk has the dual purpose of raising money to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association “to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all those affected by diabetes” and raising awareness of this incurable disease that effects 30 million Americans.
It is a lovely, 5K fall walk and for the more ambitious, a fun run with a prize to the first male & female runners.
To register to walk, go to http://main.diabetes.org/goto/downeast2018. Walkers with minimum $15 donation will receive a t-shirt. (Sizes on a first-come first-served basis on walk day while supplies last.) Business donating $25 or more will have a thank you sign along the Walk.
We want to thank our major sponsors – Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Machias Savings Bank, Darling’s Ford, Rotary Club of Ellsworth, MDI Lions Club, and St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church.
See you there!
