Ellsworth – The Rock & Art Shop at 63 Main Street Ellsworth, Maine will be having a Hoot At The Shop, May 3rd from 5:30 to 7:30. Event includes two live owls demonstrations, refreshments provided Fog Town Brewery, and a portion of the proceeds will be going to benefit Birdsacare, Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary.
Birdsacare Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary located in Ellsworth is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the home and vision of pioneer, ornithologist-photographer CORDELIA J. STANWOOD, as a living memorial to her achievements in Ornithology and life. It is described as a “Charming and intimate, yet unassuming, a visit to Birdsacre is a unique and meaningful experience, perfect for children and adults, outdoors enthusiasts, bird lovers, and history buffs.”
Growing up in Bucksport Maine the three sibling creators and owners of The Rock & Art Shop (Anthony, Annette, Amanda) often took day trips to the Ellsworth sanctuary. A love of all things in nature was instilled by the thier parents and champion by the oldest son Tony, who curates the Cabinets of curiosities in all three locations. Building community and giving back to the town is very important to The Rock & Art Shop. In years past the shop has raised money for the Bangor Bog Walk, Avian Haven, wild bird rehabilitation center, Acadia Wildlife Center, and Downtown Bangor Beautification. The Rock & Art Shop in downtown Ellsworth will be donating a portion of all its May sales to the Birdsacare, Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary.
