Autumn Gold Weekend, sponsored by The First returns September 23-26th with food, fun and festivities all over town.
What a great way to celebrate those gorgeous September days by enjoying all the family activities around Ellsworth. Friday September 24th, spend the evening on Main Street. Shop, dine and listen to the Crown Vics at 7pm hosted by the Grand. Saturday the 25th start your day with the Rotary Pancake Breakfast at the Moore Center, check out the crafters at the Mill Mall, or the Car Show at Home Depot, grab lunch and a boat ride at Harbor Park, while enjoying some music, shop downtown and enter the Go for the Gold raffle, stop off at the Maine Coast Mall for Children’s activities and craft booths, then finish up at your favorite pub, beer garden or restaurant for dinner. Autumn Gold Business After Hours on the Downeast Scenic Railroad
Thursday September 23rd, “Come ride the Train”. Enjoy a mobile Business After Hours with Ellsworth Chamber members and guests, as we enjoy a fall excursion on the Downeast Scenic Railroad. The event starts at 5pm with check in, and the train pulls away at 5:30 for a fun evening. Along with refreshments, we will be awarding the winners of the Autumn Gold Decorating Contest, sponsored by Plants Unlimited
38th Annual Car Show at Home Depot sponsored by Coastal Auto Parts with Darlings Chevrolet
Saturday September 25th, Classic cars, and trucks shine at the Autumn Gold Car Show. Have a bite to eat, vote for the People’s Choice, check out the Shrine NASCAR unit at one of Maine’s long time car shows.
Registration for entrants starts at 8am. Awards start at 1pm. Admission is free for spectators.
Union River Boat Rides, Music and Food at Harbor Park sponsored by Machias Savings Bank with Merrill Furniture, Scenic Flights of Acadia, Hammond Lumber
Saturday September 25th, Boat rides down the Union River are offered by local captains aboard their own boats from 10-2pm. Donations accepted. Although the Chowder Competition will not take place this year due to staffing issues with many local establishments, the Tent will be up and there will be live music and food purveyors and BBQ by the local boy scouts.

Sales and discounts all over town are part of Autumn Gold. Small retail shops will have Go for the Gold raffle entry bags. No purchase is necessary to win gift certificates and more donated by local businesses. Get your shopping list at the Ellsworth Chamber office and Go for the Gold.
