Barn Arts Collective and The Criterion Partner for a Family New Year’s Eve Event
(Bar Harbor, ME)– The Criterion and Barn Arts Collective invite the community to a family New Year’s Eve event from 4p.m. to 6p.m. on Saturday, December 31st.
“We’re so excited to bring this family New Year’s Eve event back for a second year,” said Barn Arts Co-Artistic Director Brittany Parker. “We were able to connect with so many families on the last day of 2015 and we’re looking forward to ringing in the new year together again.”
Barn Arts will host a 1930’s themed carnival in the Criterion, complete with games, fortune telling, and a vintage photo booth. The Barn Arts Variety show will commence at 5p.m. featuring performers and puppets in rousing song and dance routines. After the show, the crowd is encouraged to finish off the evening at Side Street Cafe where there will be a ball drop for families.
“The evening will start with a carnival and end with a dance party,” said Barn Arts Co-Artistic Director Andrew Simon. “In between the two, we’ll put on a classic variety show featuring characters, music, and puppets from many of the shows in the Barn Arts universe.”
The Criterion is honored to be a gathering space for the community as they come together to ring in 2017.
“New Year’s Eve is maybe the most magical of holidays. It is a time to review the year past, honor what was special – and most importantly, make plans and dreams for the year to come,” said Criterion Executive Director Heather Martin. “Everything is alive with possibility, anything can be! I love that The Criterion is embracing the creativity and the wonder of the night.”
Tickets for the event are $10 and are available online at www.criteriontheatre.org or at the box office beginning an hour before the event.
