Once the
site of small farms and shoreline cottages, Trenton has
become in recent years involved with clean industry.
Boat building firms and an interior signage company
are major employers. The most obvious activity in the
town is the Hancock County Airport with a scheduled
airline, hangar facilities, a fixed base operation and other
air related functions. An eighteen-hole golf course is
situated on the eastern shore. State route 3, along which
are many tourist related businesses, traverses the town and
is the sole land route to Mount Desert Island and Acadia
National Park. |
