Ellsworth is a coastal city with a rich history and thriving business community. It is conveniently located 12 minutes from the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton and 30 minutes from Bangor International Airport.

The old Maine saying “You can’t get there from here” does not apply to our picturesque city – indeed you can get almost anywhere from here!

All major routes lead in and out of Ellsworth making it an ideal place to begin and end your day’s activities as you explore the natural beauty of the Downeast area.  Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are a 19 mile scenic drive along Route 3. The beautiful Blue Hill peninsula, an area that boasts many small coastal villages and some of the most scenic views along the jagged Maine Coast is just 14 miles from Ellsworth. 

Atlantic Canada is closer than you may think.  You can easily take a day trip from Ellsworth to the Canadian border and Campobello Island, the summer home of  President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  A drive along scenic Route 1 to the border brings you in to the heart of Downeast Maine where the sea still provides sustenance for many families.  Little towns with old sea captains homes and rich heritage are situated along your way.
