Winter Carnival- Saturday, February 4th.

UPDATED Feb. 2nd  Schedule changes for the Winter Carnival-

Due to the lack of snow, Saturday morning's Winter Carnival events will move to the Moore Community Center and the Community Skating Rink.

The Cardboard Sled contestants may register their entries starting at 9 a.m.and will display their sleds at the rink.   The Most Creative sleds will be recognized after the 10 a.m. Sled Parade.     Field Games will be moved from 1 p.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Moore Comm. Center Field.    Games include 3 Legged Race, Sack Races, Snow Ball Target Practice, Shovel Spin Relay, Saucer Races, etc.

The Friends in Action will host indoor gaming and event starting at Noon. Games include chess, cribbage, checkers, puzzling, etc.

Afternoon Ice Events start at 1 p.m.   Hockey Skills Test, Speed Skating Races, Slap Shot Speed Booth, Shot Accuracy Game, Ice Sliding Distance Contest, and Human Ice Bowling.

Fireworks will be shot from the EHS softball field at 6 p.m.

Sunday's Clam Boot Classic Hockey Tournament
games start at 9 a.m. Come see a true DownEast event. 

 The DEYMCA Little League will provide refreshments both days.

  • McDonald's in Ellsworth is offering $1.00 off Hot Specialty Drinks all day Saturday
  • The Lygonia Lodge #40 will fuel carnival participants and non-participants alike with a hearty Winter Carnival Breakfast. Baked Ham and Scrambled Eggs, Pancakes, Juice, coffee, tea,or milk $5.00 per person 7am- 11am. The lodge is at the top of Bridge Hill, Bucksport Road 
  • The Gifted Hand shop in the Gallery Grand will hold a S*P*A*R*K*L*Y trunk show on Saturday & Presenting the 4th Annual STUDIO CLEAN OUT SALE
    10 am - 5 pm at The Gifted Hand Shop, 169 Main St., Downtown Ellsworth
  • Morton's Moo will offer $1.00 Off Hot Chocolate all day on Saturday, School St. Ellsworth
  • The Eagles Lodge Motel is hosting the Yo Pro Fireworks Viewing Party (FMI on Yo Pros & the event visit www.facebook.com/EllsYoPro)
  • Musicians for Cleonice,Saturday February 4th from 7:00 – 9:00
    Local Musicians band together to help “Bring Pizza to Ellsworth's Livingroom”

See this year's 'Get Down With Chamber Businesses"

At the first of the year (2011) when it was cold and snowy in Maine the EACC staff teamed up with one of its members Summer Fly, a local videography company. Using the upbeat music “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas they created the “Get Down with Ellsworth Area Businesses” video for the chamber’s annual meeting on May 5.  According to Phyllis Young, Associate Director, “We know that many people here love their jobs and the people they work with.  This upbeat video reminds us of how great this place is to live and work.  The days we spent filming the video were probably some of the most rewarding (and funniest) I have had on the job.”
